Mount Gessi Primary School
Named after Mount Gessi — at 4,500 metres the fourth-highest summit of the Rwenzori — the school was built using funds raised through contributions and earnings from visitors to the mountains. It remains one of AMA's clearest examples of tourism becoming community infrastructure.
Mughomba Gravity Flow Water Supply
A gravity flow water supply serving Rwenzori households, reducing the daily burden of water collection and improving hygiene and health outcomes. Recorded in AMA's profile as one of the organisation's major accomplishments.
Women & Livelihoods
Traditional basket weaving, zero-grazing, vegetable growing and family planning — a thread of women-centred economic empowerment running through AMA's work since 1997, made possible with partner support.
Sustainable Agriculture
Years of training with farming families on eco-friendly practice, crop diversity, kitchen gardens and cooperatives — from the Rwenzori Agro-forestry Project through to the Sustainable Agriculture Training project.
Health & HIV
HIV/AIDS mainstreaming across workplaces and communities, alongside investment in health capacity including nursing education that now serves Bundibugyo Hospital.

1992
AMA Founded in Kazingo
Established in Kazingo village to empower local mountain and coffee-farming communities through eco-tourism and primary education.
1997
Women's Empowerment & Livelihoods
Launched traditional basket weaving and zero-grazing initiatives to build household income and nutrition for women.

2006
Agroforestry & Conservation (RAP)
Completed the Rwenzori Agro-forestry Project, planting indigenous trees across river corridors in Bundibugyo.
